Forest Within

Lian Jiahai (played by Yu Hewei) accidentally loses an eye when Lu Xinkai (played by Han Geng) blinds him, causing him to miss his date and lose his love, Wang Xiuyi (played by Gao Yuanyuan). Yet this accident trades one eye for a lifetime of happiness for his daughter, Lian Jie (played by Zhang Tianai). Years later, Lian Jiahai reunites with Wang Xiuyi, rekindling their old flame, only to be embroiled in a murder case. The truth, concealed by all, is inextricably linked to the mysterious and dangerous Wang Xiuyi, entangling the fates of two families and three generations in decades of life-and-death struggles, love, hate, and obsession... Who killed whom? And who must pay with their life? How will the love between Lian Jiahai and Wang Xiuyi, always just a step away, ever find resolution? The film is adapted from Zheng Zhi's novel of the same name.
