Twenty years later, Odysseus (Ralph Fiennes) washes ashore on the coast of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The king has finally come home, but his kingdom has changed greatly since he left for the Trojan War. His beloved wife, Penelope (Juliette Binoche), is now a prisoner in her own home, pursued by many ambitious suitors vying to choose a new husband and a new king. Their son, Telemachus, has grown up without a father and faces death at the hands of his mother's suitors, who see him as an obstacle to their pursuit of Penelope and the throne.
