With her husband living permanently in Germany, head nurse Prabha is trapped in a nominal arranged marriage, unable to respond to the gentle care of a male doctor. Young nurse Anu loves a Muslim boy, and though they cannot openly be together, they boldly taste forbidden fruit. Their mutual friend, denied housing justice due to her widowhood, is forced to leave the city. Three fragile women, unable to leave their mark in the vast noise of Mumbai, yet remain resilient and strong, handling problems in their own way within the daily patriarchy.
