The Witch Under the Dome

In the 13th century, a young slave girl named Sitara in the eastern Iranian city of Tus is entrusted by a slave trader to a scholarly family for education. Initially attempting to escape, Sitara learns the importance of knowledge and is cherished like a daughter by the mistress Fatima, studying Euclid's 'Elements' and more. Eight years after the family's heir, Muhammad, leaves for Nishapur to pursue scholarship, Tus is attacked by the Mongols. Sitara is captured by Tolui's army, and Fatima is killed protecting her. Moreover, the 'Elements' is seized. Taken to Mongolia, Sitara begins to contemplate revenge against the Mongols.
