Successful urbanite Wang Wenqiang loses his wife in middle age and meets Liu Fang in his old age. Liu Fang is hardworking, down-to-earth, and willing to endure hardship, but comes from a poor background. The two fall in love. However, Wang's son, Wang BaoSheng, strongly opposes their relationship, fearing his father is being deceived. He believes Liu Fang's poor background indicates impure motives and tries to use money to make her leave. Liu Fang's daughter, Nini, repeatedly harasses Wang BaoSheng for money. Liu Fang, not wanting to burden Wang Wenqiang, asks for an exorbitant breakup fee from Wang BaoSheng and has her cousin help stage the scene, leading Wang Wenqiang to mistakenly believe he's being betrayed and leave heartbroken. In the end, one act from Liu Fang completely changes Wang BaoSheng's perspective!
