"A Meal's Kindness Is Worth a Fortune" tells the story of Zhang Xiufen, owner of the Xiufen Snack Shop across from an elementary school. She helps impoverished students for years, feeding young Zhou Lei and supporting his schooling, and he promises to repay her kindness in 20 years. Years later, Zhou Lei—now president of the Zhou Group—returns to his hometown to find his benefactor, just as Yao Dazhuang, a relative of the vice principal, repeatedly harasses the snack shop over business competition. Zhou Lei arrives at the shop right as Yao Dazhuang is causing trouble and steps forward to protect Zhang Xiufen and her grandchild. Zhou Lei gradually exposes the wrongdoing of Tian Guang and others, publicly acknowledges his bond with Zhang Xiufen at a banquet, and hands over the surrounding shops for her to run as repayment for her kindness.
