During a sacrificial rite, the mountain god Chunjian discovers that the offering, Ji Jiu, is connected to her unresolved tribulation, so she keeps him to overcome it. Unbeknownst to her, Ji Jiu's true motive is to extract her divine heart to resurrect his lover. As they grow closer, Ji Jiu schemes to expose her true form before her followers, causing their faith to crumble and her divine power to dissipate. As Chunjian fades away, Ji Jiu learns the truth from a century ago and ultimately sacrifices himself, vanishing from the world.
