After the passing of her lifelong best friend, 94-year-old Eleanor, carrying memories of her dear companion, moves back to New York to live with her daughter. But her sharp tongue quickly strains their relationship, and she finds herself dumped at a Jewish community center for music classes. An inadvertent whopper of a lie leads her to an unlikely friendship with journalism student Nina, as they share and soothe each other's gains and losses in this city of scarce communication. Yet as the lie snowballs, their friendship teeters on the brink.
