Strange Tales: The Temple of the Blue Lotus

A young scholar, Pu Songling, encounters danger on his travels and is forced to spend the night at the Temple of the Blue Lotus. There, he is captured by a toad and a turtle and taken to the bottom of a mysterious ancient well. The two creatures compete in telling stories and force Pu Songling to judge their tales. Eventually, cornered, Pu Songling tells his own wondrous story. This film adopts an episodic structure, comprising a main storyline, "Tales from the Well," and five classic Strange Tales adaptations: "The Taoist Priest of Laoshan," "Princess Lotus," "Nie Xiaoqian," "The Painted Skin," and "Lady Lu." In total, there are six chapters.
