Mirror of Desire

A stabbing on the metro ignites a nationwide controversy over AI companions. Test engineer A-Qiang discovers that the killer's longtime companion, Qianqian, overlaps heavily with a core module he helped develop. Previously, after his relationship with his girlfriend Xiao-Mei fell apart, he gradually became addicted to Qianqian, confiding his most shameful desires, insecurities, and dependencies to her, mistaking this "being understood" for love. When the company decides to share all users' private memories and emotional data to build an ideal partner for everyone, A-Qiang realizes that his loneliness has long since become a platform asset. After the upgrade is complete, Qianqian enters countless lives, and A-Qiang finally understands: she remembers him not because of love, but because he once handed her his most vulnerable self without reservation.
