Taboos of the Paper Effigy Maker

Chen Ling, a paper effigy maker, strictly follows the trade rule of the "Four Refusals," forbidding him from taking on taboo paper crafts such as those for women who died in childbirth. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, his wife and mother-in-law, greedy for money, conspire with the deceased's husband, Zhao Zhi, to conceal information and trick him into accepting a job for a woman who died in childbirth. That night, the dead woman, Lin Wan, comes to his door demanding his life. The mother and daughter repeatedly obstruct his attempts to break the curse and desecrate the paper effigies, worsening the curse and causing frequent cases of corpse transformation. Chen Ling tries several methods to resolve the situation, and the group has no choice but to summon a shaman. In the end, the mother and daughter are forced to reveal a shocking secret—and all of this was already part of Chen Ling's plan.
