In the 1990s, Chen Yi and Miao Jing's bond began through their parents' acquaintance. Initially hostile towards Miao Jing, Chen Yi's attitude shifted after an injury revealed her kindness. But their brief happiness faded as Chen's father passed and Miao's mother vanished, leaving the two children to rely on each other. In college, Miao Jing bravely confessed her love, but Chen Yi, caught up in an arson case as a key witness, forced her to leave Tengcheng to protect her while he aided the police. Years later, Chen Yi runs a billiard hall, and Miao Jing returns to Tengcheng for an audit at Haoyun Logistics. Their reunion stirs old feelings, but Chen Yi, wary of boss Zhang Bin from the arson case, tries to stop her from taking the job. As Zhang's smuggling operations surface, Chen Yi steps in to shield Miao Jing, and together they fight against Zhang with the police. In the end, justice prevails, and a wounded Chen Yi confesses his love to Miao Jing, uniting them at last.
