The World Dances

Set in the Muromachi period, this is the story of Oniyasha, a beautiful youth who would later be known as Zeami. Raised by his father, Kan'ami, who valued skill above all, Oniyasha could never understand why humans took pleasure in art and performance. One day, at a humble dwelling on the edge of the village, he saw a woman singing and dancing, and found himself irresistibly drawn to it. Through encounters with others, the curious Oniyasha learns to laugh and cry, confronts his own weaknesses, and, while experiencing the impermanence of the world, gradually gives birth to a new form of dance.
