Twentieth Century Electrical Catalog

Set in the 40th year of Meiji (1907), Momokawa Inako lives in Fushimi, Kyoto. She is good at nothing and is scolded by her father every day. Her only solace is praying to the gods and Buddhas. One day, as usual, she visits Fushimi Inari Shrine to pray, where she meets a free-spirited young man named Sakamoto Kihachi. Kihachi tells her not to believe in such invisible things, saying that from now on, it will be the age of electricity. Meanwhile, Inako's father informs her about an arranged marriage, decided unilaterally by him. Inako initially resigns herself to this fate, believing that her worth is only that. However, Kihachi awakens her desire to leave home and takes her away from that closed-off household. The way to stop the marriage is to find the mysterious book 'Twentieth Century Electrical Catalog,' a prophetic book about electricity that Kihachi wrote in his childhood. Kihachi's older brother, Seikichi, took the book and has been missing ever since. Kihachi and Inako flee across Kyoto and Shiga in search of this book, and the secrets hidden behind the vanished catalog are waiting to be uncovered.
