Harbor Light

Directed and written by Michihito Fujii, in his second collaboration with Hiroshi Tachi, this film is set in a port town on the northern coast. It depicts the friendship spanning over a decade between a former yakuza member and a young boy named Kota, who lost his parents and his sight in an accident. In the film, the man raises funds through some means to restore Kota's sight, but by then, the man is no longer by his side. Growing into a young man, Kota believes in the small lie that the man was actually a detective, and, as if chasing the figure who gave him light, he becomes a detective himself. Hiroshi Tachi plays the man under the alias Miura, while the rising star of Kabuki, Masahiro Onoe, makes his screen debut as the young Kota, and Kaito Nagayoshi portrays the adult Kota.
