Forbidden Gaze
Eva, a beloved teacher, is married to the local mayor. Despite his betrayal of her trust, she plans to support his campaign, so she begins volunteering at a local refugee center. There, she grows close to Amir, an 18-year-old refugee whose poetic talent deeply captivates her. However, the closer they become, the less control she has over the situation. This drama about forbidden love, 'Don't Call Me Mom,' puts the protagonists to moral tests while provocatively exploring how hypocrisy can masquerade as generosity. Drawing on her own experience as a casting director, Nina Knaer elicits compelling performances from actors Pia Tjelta, Christopher Joner, and Tarek Zayat.
