731
On the eve of victory in the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, Unit 731 of the invading Japanese army, under the guise of water supply and epidemic prevention, secretly conducted inhumane bacteriological warfare research in Pingfang District, Harbin, capturing civilians en masse for live human experiments in a desperate attempt to turn the tide of defeat. Wang Yongzhang (played by Jiang Wu), a small vendor, and others were forcibly taken into a special prison, where the Japanese deceived them with false promises of freedom in exchange for cooperating with health checks and epidemic research, subjecting them to extreme tortures such as frostbite experiments, gas experiments, and vivisection. Through the perspective of ordinary civilians, the film exposes the Japanese army's atrocities against humanity, showcasing the unyielding spirit of resistance of the Chinese people in desperate circumstances, aiming to remind the world to remember history, never forget national humiliation, and defend peace.
