Silk That Never Falls

Lin Zhou returns to his hometown and finds his grandfather Lin Shouyi's silkworm house on the verge of closing, the old craft fading away. He decides to raise a batch himself, seeing it through from silkworm eggs to finished silk thread. Through water shortages, a leaking roof on a rainy night, a humidity crisis, and clashes over how things should be done, he — with help from Chen Mancang, Zhou Guilan, Su He, and others — watches the first cocoon take shape and learns the art of silk reeling. When buyers try to drive the price down, he stands firm on natural color variation and consistent craftsmanship, completing a small trial order and showing the village a new path forward for its old craft. The story continues next season.
