At night, the Queen secretly summons the Dharma Master to her bedchamber to "appraise the national treasure." The moment the doors fall shut, the so-called treasure is no longer a lifeless object—only her. The master chants that he is a monk and retreats step by step, yet his heart yields inch by inch amid candlelight and gauze: a sash placed in his palm, a kiss before the bed, a crown falling to who knows where. She asks him: Will you enter? If you enter, you are no longer a monk; if you do not, the doors are already sealed. In one night, precepts and desire clash at close quarters. The kingdom lies before his eyes, the Buddha behind him—can he still walk out?
