My AI Girlfriend

My name is Lin Chen. At twenty, I stunned the industry with a groundbreaking AI robot design, and everyone called me a homegrown Tony Stark. Back then I had a perfect family—my wife Shen Wan was a top AI ethicist and the light of my life. We were the model couple everyone envied. I believed in science and always said everything could be explained by it. But when I was thirty, a car accident took Shen Wan, and the police ruled it an accident. Since then I quit my job at a leading tech company and went into hiding on the outskirts of the city, opening an inconspicuous machine repair shop and living in self-imposed exile—until I learned that the crash was never an accident.
