In Yunxi Town, the ancient craft of handmade bamboo paper is on the brink of vanishing. Shen Yan, the last devoted inheritor, insists on preserving every one of its hundred painstaking steps, while designer Su Jin dreams of bringing bamboo paper into everyday life through modern design. Clashing at first, the two gradually join forces—harvesting bamboo, making pulp, lifting sheets, and drying them in the sun—stumbling, failing, and learning to compromise. Together they keep the heart of the old craft while creating fresh innovations: paper lamps, fans, bookmarks, and notebooks. When Yunxi bamboo paper finally wins recognition at an intangible cultural heritage exhibition, they open a teaching workshop so that this ancient art can keep growing in a new era.
